Coaching Errors After W5

Week 5 was by far our cleanest week in terms of raw number of mistakes, as the twelve of us combined for only 10 erroneous decisions. It probably helps that W5 saw the first slate of Byes, which lessened the number of decisions we each had to make, but still, pretty impressive showing. Additionally, there were no Coaching Losses this week, which again brings our horrific numbers down a little further.

Coaching Losses
Year Losses Weeks %
2019 10 13 12.82%
2020 4 13 5.13%
2021 12 14 14.29%
2022 15 14 17.86%
2023 7 5 23.33%

The biggest misstep of the week goes to Trigger, starting an injured Aaron Jones over Zack Moss, who topped 300 points. In the end, it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game, but he would have avoided that Dump of the Week designation.

Let’s take a look at the updated Coach of the Year standings…

Rank Prev Coach Loss 50-99 100-199 200-299 300+ Total Points
1 1 Dave 1 4 5 9
2 2 Josh 1 3 1 5 10
3 3 Matt 3 4 7 11
4 4 Ryan 3 3 1 7 12
5 5 Kyle 5 2 7 16
6 6 Kaiser 1 2 3 5 21
7 7 Steve 1 1 3 1 5 23
8 7 Kronner 1 2 3 2 7 27
8 7 Trigger 1 4 1 2 7 27
10 10 Chris 1 1 5 2 8 30
11 11 Tim 1 3 2 2 1 8 30
12 12 Jones 1 4 2 3 1 10 34

The only rankings change here sees that 3-way tie for seventh broken up, now solely held by the Quasars, with the Mallrats and Dutchmen both dropping into a tie for eighth.

And just for good measure, I love this.
