The Bronze Competition

Updated 11/10/22

It’s nobody’s goal starting out the season, but by the end, taking home a Bronze is sure better than a sharp stick in the eye. Matt Alley and Chris Tansuche seem to especially love playing in this contest, with Chris competing for it six times, and Matt a league-high seven.

Here’s a look at how everyone has faired in that oh-so-bitter non-championship matchup – where the winner gets some Yahoo Hardware and a ‘Champ Point’ – and the loser gets forgotten. I know the pain of 4th place, having lost this game twice (2013 & 2014) myself.

RANK MANAGER WINS LOSSES W% GAMES
1 C. Tansuche 4 2 0.667 6
2 Jon Jones 3 1 0.750 4
3 Byrd Bennett 2 0 1.000 2
3 Jim Toepel 2 0 1.000 2
5 Mark Kaiser 2 1 0.667 3
6 B. Kronner 2 2 0.500 4
7 Matt Alley 2 5 0.286 7
8 Ryan Kreger 1 0 1.000 1
8 Josh Kreger 1 0 1.000 1
8 S. Sanchez 1 0 1.000 1
11 Tim McLeod 0 1 0.000 1
11 Kyle Serruys 0 1 0.000 1
13 John Sanchez 0 2 0.000 2
13 Trigger 0 2 0.000 2
15 Dave Alley 0 3 0.000 3

Observations…

  • Byrd, Toepel and Kaiser were the original 3 “permanent” expansion clubs, and they all have exactly 2 wins in the Bronze Game.
  • The Bronze Game accounts for 57% of Tan’s League Leading Trophy Count of 7.
  • Matt Alley seems a little snake-bit here, winning his first two chances for Bronze, but totaling an 0-5 record in the game since 2004.
  • Combined Brother-Records have the Kregers at 2-0, the Sanchez boys at 1-1, and the Alleys at a painful 2-8.
