Observations Through 3 Weeks

With three games now in the books, I thought it’d be a good time to take a look at how things are going so far, and what kind of oddities we’ve seen thus far.

Only One 2K Team

In Week 3, only The Mexico City Quasars broke 2000 points. Scoring overall is down a little since we nerfed tackles, but we had five teams eclipse the mark in each of the first two weeks this year. In fact, this is so odd, the last time it happened was… Week of 2017. And the one team that week? You guessed it, the Quasars. Steve dropped 2595 on Kyle, who had the 2nd highest score in the league that at 1988.

Worst 3-0 Team Ever?

“I love you Baby 3-0”

So the Red Bank Mallrats have taken advantage of a little bit of luck thus far, sitting undefeated through three weeks, but with the 2nd fewest points scored thus far. So to confirm or refute what everyone is thinking, let’s take a look at every 3-0 team since 2001, and rank them with our weighted scoring system, and see where it ranks.

RANK YEAR MANAGER ORG. SCORE ADJ. SCORE
1 2020 Chris 8212 8212

29 2017 Chris 5969 5969
30 2017 Steve 5795 5795
31 2022 Kronner 5254 5601

So the answer is, Yes. Even with the benefit of weighted scores, the 2022 Mallrats still rank 31/31 in scoring amongst 3-0 teams.

Other interesting notes from this chart;

  • Chris has the highest weighted score ever from 2020. That year, he not only started 3-0, but went on to be 5-0, and then missed the playoffs with the single most epic collapse in league history.
  • Not only to I have to lowest weighted score, I also have the highest non-weighted score, with 8457 in 2011. The weighting drops me 800 points, but is still good enough for 2nd place.
  • The record for the most 3-0 starts in league history belongs to Chris, who has 7 to date.
