Most Likely Playoff Pictures

With Thursday Night’s matchup between the Vikings and Steelers just hours away, and plenty of relevant players being in that game, I thought it’d be a good idea to look at the playoff picture, and you can figure out which scenario you want to root for…

The Yahoo Projection

Let’s start with the easiest one. This is the outcome if all six games end exactly as projected currently by Yahoo. This would mean Wins by Mark, Jones, Kronner, Steve, Dave, and Kyle. The results here;

1. Mark (11-3)
2. Skippers (9-5)
3. Sentinels (8-6)

Then we run into a 5 team logjam at 7-7. Here is the order based on the projected points scored added to the season total.

4. CTan v World (7-7, 30451)
5. Mallrats (7-7, 29921)
6. SEC DECK (7-7, 28308)
7. Quasars (7-7, 27852)
8. BF3000s (7-7, 25022)

The remaining teams would round out as such…

9. Brady Tim (6-8, 28649)
10. Regular Tim (6-8, 27855)
11. Dutchmen (5-9)
12. Burrito Warrior (4-10)

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. SECOND DECK
C TAN v. RED BANK MALLRATS

If it plays out this way, then the eventual six playoffs teams will have been set for weeks already. But for those who love chaos or relish the tears of Kronner, and want to see some shakeups, what needs to happen?

The Chaos Ladder

In this scenario, with the top three teams already locked in, what could happen in Week 14 that sees Chris, Matt, Kronner, Tim, Steve, or Dave make a run at a title? Well, realistically, unless Chris puts up a goose egg this week, he’s in. For Matt and Kronner, they just need to win and they are in – but for the other guys, some pieces have to fall. Those three teams all have to win, obviously. And that would equal losses for Jones, Josh, and Trigger. But that alone won’t get the job done, so what else do they need?

These matchups assume that Chris does not surpass Josh in the seeds, though that is still possible.

FOR TIMMO;

A win over Jones makes Timmy 7-7 (and could knock Jon out of 2nd), but because of his season-long point total, he’ll need some help. His simplest route in is a loss by Kronner. The Mallrats will drop to 6-8 with a loss and be eliminated. So long as Steve and Dave don’t outscore McLeod by an obscene amount, he’ll be in.

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. TIMMO
C TAN v. SECOND DECK

This WIN will be delicious.

But what if Kronner wins? Can Tim still get in? Yes. His most realistic road if the Mallrats win is through a loss by SECOND DECK. If Matt loses to Kyle AND doesn’t outscore Timmo by more than 363 points, SECOND DECK will drop to 7th place, moving both Kronner and Tim up a spot.

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. TIMMO
C TAN v. RED BANK MALLRATS

FOR STEVE;

A win over Josh makes Sanchez 7-7, and opens up a slim chance for Tan to move into 3rd place. Steve’s simplest route is for both Tim and Kronner to lose. TIMMO and The Mallrats will both drop to 6-8 with a loss and be eliminated. So long as Dave doesn’t outscore ol’ Quasar by an obscene amount (2661), Steve can slip into 6th place.

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. QUASARS
C TAN v. SECOND DECK

Yes, have some.

But what if Kronner or Tim win? Can Steve still get in? Yes, but he has to either outscore Tim by 113 points OR – if SECOND DECK loses and Quasar outscores Matt by at least 475 points this week.

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. QUASARS
C TAN v. TIMMO or RED BANK MALLRATS

FOR DAVE;

Here is the true chaos outcome – the Buttfucker 3000 Playoff run. For this to happen, Kronner, Tim and Steve all have to lose. That’s about it.

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. BF3000
C TAN v. SECOND DECK

I will devour all the souls.But what if Kronner or Tim or Steve win? Can Dave still get in? Not within the realms of probability as we know them. But I guess not ENTIRELY impossible. If any one of those teams won – and let’s say it’s Steve just for argument’s sake. Steve could beat Josh 1000-999, twice breaking Dave’s Dump of the Year stat in the same game – Dave would still need to break Kaiser’s King of the Year stat by 842 against Trigger. SO, if Steve somehow wins while only scoring 1000 points, and then Dave drops 3660 on Trigger’s head, he could steal the 6 seed with losses by Tim and Kronner.

This would mean…

KAISER – 1st Rd. BYE
SKIPPERS – 1st Rd. BYE
SENTINELS v. BF3000
C TAN v. SECOND DECK

There you have it. The final push for playoff glory starts in less than 8 hours, let’s see how crazy it gets…
