Rivalry Week Preview!

And it’s already time for the first of our two Rivalry Weeks!

C Tan vs the World v. Murphy Inn-ies

There are three sets of brothers in this league now, and two of those sets are playing this week. Unfortunately for Jason, that means playing Chris for the second time in three weeks. We’ll all be looking to Murphy to end Tan’s reign of terror this weekend, and he’ll need to rely on MSU Great Kirk Cousins to outduel Russell Westbrook Wilson on SNF. That’ll probably happen.

Red Bank Mallrats v. QAnon

A rematch of both Week One of this season, and the Championship game from 2019, Kronner and Kaiser square off for the last time this season, barring a playoff matchup. So far QAnon has been the better team, beating the Mallrats in week one with a Thursday morning Stat Correction. Since that time, QAnon has a 1-2 record despite being one of the more potent offenses in the league and touting 2020’s best Fantasy QB through 4 weeks. QAnon has the second-most points scored this season, but has also played the third hardest schedule so far, resulting in a .500 record. The Mallrats are also 2-2, and have been featured in some of the closest matchups every week so far, living in constant fear of Thursday morning. Now we see them, having lost 3 in a row to Kasier stretching back to 2019, with injuries everywhere, hoping to break this losing streak before it becomes a trend.

Time to take down these conspiracy theory punks…

BE A MAN HOGAN v. The Tim Brady’s

The most storied of rivalries…the expansion teams! So this might not be the most obvious of rivalries, as the teams have only played four times previously. But in the matchups, John has taken the W every time. This is the first of two matchups in 2020, giving Kyle a chance to bring that serious a little closer. Currently, The Tim Bradys are 3-1 and sitting in third place, while the 2-2 BE A MAN HOGAN squad plummeted down to the eight spot this week. Based on projections, HOGAN is expected to improve to 5-0 all-time against Kyle, but if Grandpa Brady can pick apart that Bears defense tonight, things could easily go the other way.

Flying Dutchmen v. Sc4_Skippers

So after trading away Aaron Rodgers to Dumpster Fire Alley, it appears the Skippers plan to go into Rivalry Week behind Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater. Bold move in what is likely to be Jon’s toughest test of the season to this point, with Trigger having put up a couple of good outings already. It certainly helps that McCaffrey and Jamal Adams are hurt, and Trigger is starting the Giants QB. Really going matchup heavy this week…

Panic! At the Alleys v. SECOND DECK

The second of the Bro v Bro matchups this week is a real toilet bowl sorta game. Dave’s 0-4 squad facing off against Matt’s eleventh place 1-3 team. It’s a matchup that will see Dave, with 3 Hall of Famers on his Bench and Drew Bress who couldn’t put up 300 against the Lions. Then you have Matt, who has the best QB in the NFL, and that’s about it. Will Matt grab his second win of the year, securely trapping Dave in the cellar, or will Davers pull himself up out of 12 place and show he has more heart than Tommy Gunn?

The Quasars v. TIM!

The most lopsided matchup of the week, at least according to projections, is a rematch from Week Two that saw “Yahoo’s Best Draft” winner TIM! lose a tight one to The Quasars. That week Timmy got over 400 from Matty Ice, and a 200+ point performance from his kicker. But it wasn’t enough to overcome Steve’s Cleveland Brown’s connection, for which Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett combine for almost 400 themselves. Now, just a few short weeks later, the matchup looks a lot different. Nick Chubb is on the IR, Matt Ryan has been benched for rookie Justin Herbert, and Tim has a whole new kicker. I feel like this one might be closer than projected.
