Week 2 Recap: The Great Parity

Well, this is unprecedented. Looking back at the records, we’ve never had this many teams start the season spitting their first two games before. We have 10 of the 12 teams currently sitting at 1-1 following week two, that’s 83%. The closest we’ve ever been to this before was way back in 2004, when 6 out of 10 teams started that way.

Outside the parity there stand but two teams – first, the undefeated, C Tan vs. The World. Not only is he 2-0, but he’s had the highest score in the league each week so far. Best of luck to Murphy Inn-ines in week three, where he faces a buzzsaw Russell Wilson vs. the craptastic Cowboys Defense. Oh, and the highest-scoring RB-duo in the league.

On the reverse, we see Panic at the Alleys (formally Nacho Team) barely breathing thus far. A silver lining here for Dave might be that he also started 0-2 in 2015 on his way to the championship. Of course that year he had the current Skippers roster (Rodgers, David Johnson, Gronk, OBJ) when they were still upright in their primes. Might be harder to pull off with a 65-year-old Drew Brees who ended last season on a snap count, and has trailed off in the later part of the season for a few years in a row now.

As for all the 1-1 teams, I just have to say the best head-to-head stat line of the week was in the matchup between Kyle and Jason, and likely a big reason that Murphy pulled out a win…

Week two not only saw Kaiser get over 600 from his QB and lose but also saw the Skippers entire offense (after the QB) all fail to crack 100 on their way to losing to a team who had two offensive starters each get zero points.
