Week One Recap – Revenge of the Stat Correction

Well, well, well – here we are again. Another year, another bullshit Thursday morning Stat Correction Loss for Team Kronner. I’m just gonna start calling Stat Corrections “Dillions.”

But we’ll get to my perpetual misery later. First, let’s take a look at some of the other matchups…

THE BLOWOUT REVENGE TOUR

First off, Michael Chiklis The Commish got his revenge against BE A MAN HOGAN, to whom he went 0-2 against last season, including a near 700 point loss in Week 11. This time around, the blowout went the other way, with CTan winning 2530-2161. Despite the match staying close early on, Tan really pulled away during SNF, and just never let up. Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson both blew up for 400+, but Sanchez simply had no answer for the 390 LB points CTan got from Baker.

The other matchup on the “2019 Blowout Revenge Tour” featured everyone’s second favorite Sanchez brother, Stephen, facing off with the official league villain, the Skippers. Jones took both head-to-head matchups last year, including a Week 2 game that saw Jones win by more than 1000 points. Well, 2020 isn’t looking any better yet for the Quasars, as the Skippers pulled out another win here, albeit much closer this time around. That puts the all-time series, consisting of 8 games since 2016, with Sanchez taking the first 5, and Jon the last three.

THE MATT BOWL

In 2019, the Matts played twice with one win to each of them. Alley edged Trigger out for the division title, but in the end they were both eliminated by Kaiser on his way to gold. To start out 2020, we saw Trigger with a commanding win against a short-handed SECOND DECK team that was forced to bench Golladay and lost James Conner mid-game. The Dutchmen on the other hand saw big games turned in by Calvin Ridley and Jamal Adams. This was the only scheduled meeting between the teams this year, so soonest that SECOND DECK can get revenge is a Playoff Showdown…

THE TURD BOWL

Neither Dave nor Kyle reached the postseason in 2019, but what Dave did do was put in two horrific efforts in the weeks that he played Kyle. With a chance at 2020 redemption, Nacho Team just kept on keeping on, failing to crack 1700 points and handing The Tim Bradys yet another easy win. Kyle is probably already penciling in another W for the week three rematch. Who made this fucking schedule?

Sammy Watkins really ripped it up in week one for Dave…oh, wait…

THE REDEMPTION GAME

After losing EVERY, SINGLE, TIME against Team Murphy, TIM! finally mustered some self-respect and put in a real effort. In impressive fashion, Krista’s Tim’s team put up the 2nd most points in the league this year, and took a decisive win from Jason to start 2020. This seems to be just one more example that 2020 is the End Times…

THE (tainted) TITLE GAME MATCHUP

If there was one game this week where neither team deserved a W, it was this one. The only matchup in the league where no one broke 2000 points, largely cause QAnon left nearly 1000 points on his bench. Meanwhile, the Mallrats were the poster children for under-performing expectations. But what ended in a 66 point win for the Mallrats after MNF, affecting Wednesday Waiver Order, became a devastating loss (as predicted) Thursday morning, changing a 66 point win into a 4 point loss. Thanks a lot Jamie Collins…

“Excuse me, sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, the right angle?”
