Best Draft of 2019 – Part 1

Figuring out the winner of the draft is time-consuming. We must not only figure out which team was the best constructed on that night from a perspective of points scored, but also draft value and position rank. If we went off points alone, whoever wanted to draft 4 QBs would likely be the winner by default. So let’s look at some numbers.

In the first of a series of posts, we’ll start by breaking down the position groups. Where they were drafted, and how they finished, beginning with the offense, here’s how things shook out.

QUARTERBACKS

Only John waited longer to take a QB than Tan did – it didn’t go great for either of them.
  1. Patrick Mahomes – Nacho Team (QB6)
  2. Aaron Rodgers – TIM! (QB11)
  3. Deshaun Watson – SECOND DECK (QB4)
  4. Jared Goff – The Quasars (QB9)
  5. Baker Mayfield – QAnon (QB18)
  6. Matt Ryan – Flying Dutchmen (QB7)
  7. Carson Wentz – Murphy Inn-ies (QB10)
  8. Drew Brees – Sc4_Skippers (QB23)
  9. Lamar Jackson – Red Bank Mallrats (QB1)
  10. Russell Wilson – The Tim Brady’s (QB5)
  11. Tom Brady – Sc4_Skippers (QB8)
  12. Ben Roethlisberger – C Tan vs the World (QB51)
  13. Philip Rivers – Red Bank Mallrats (QB12)
  14. Cam Newton – BE A MAN HOGAN (QB46)
  15. Kirk Cousins – The Quasars (QB15)
  16. Kyler Murray – Murphy Inn-ies (QB13)
  17. Derek Carr – C Tan vs the World (QB16)
  18. Jameis Winston – TIM! (QB3)
  19. Dak Prescott – QAnon (QB2)
  20. Matthew Stafford – BE A MAN HOGAN (QB29)

Injuries here played a big part, obviously. Brees was great when he played, but he missed time. And Big Ben and Cam Newton each got killed due to missed games.

Wideout is for sure where everyone aside from Trigger seemed to just be throwing darts. Chris had the second-best score with a -4. Jason got a -47 despite getting WR2 in the WR18 slot, drafting Goodwin in 4th round, but Antonio Brown and Alshon Jeffery killed his score. And Jones took some swings late that turned out to be big misses.
