Most Active GMs – Post Draft

Here’s a fun one that I suspect will have very little insight to W-L records, and tell us more about obsession and neuroses. The whole chart is too big to put on here, so here are some break downs…

MOVES PER MANAGER

Manager Total Moves Avg. Moves
Jones 1202 63.26
John 218 54.50
Dave 857 45.11

Tan 523 27.53
Trigger 463 24.37
Kyle 64 21.33
Kaiser 313 18.41

Observations…

  • Jones hates the team he drafted?
  • Kaiser likes to nap a lot?

2002 232 12 19.33
2001 149 8 18.63
2012 218 12 18.17

Observations…

  • You will see a huge increase here the year the Sanchez boys joined the league (2016), and its risen each year they’ve been active.
  • 2012 being the least active year isn’t a big surprise after the chaos that ensued during the 2011 season – more on that later.

2016 6 12 0.50
2017 6 12 0.50
2018 6 12 0.50
2019 7 12 0.58 1*
2020

Observations…

  • 198 completed trades over the course of 19 seasons, gives us an average of 10.42 per year.
  • In 2011, the only year where we could trade future picks, more than half of all trades involved a pick, and the inexperience with trading them made for an odd draft in 2012 – more on that later.
  • The backlash following the Pick Swaps, lead to a huge dip in the average number of trades per year – we average just shy of 14 trades a year up to that point. Since 2012, that number has fallen to 5.6 per year.
  • *The lone veto in 2019 was accidental, though the teams decided not to push the trade through when given the option to do so.

TIMES VETOED

Manager Vetoes Trades Veto %
Matt 3 25 12.00%
Jones 5 69 7.25%
Kronner 3 44 6.82%
Dave 5 79 6.33%
Kaiser 1 16 6.25%
Tan 1 29 3.45%

Observations…

  • Aside from the accidental Veto in 2019, we haven’t had a legitimate trade denial since 2011.
  • All of Jones’ vetoes came in the very early years, perhaps – as Dave put it – it’s his Super Villain Origin, and explains why he’s become so jaded, trying and failing time and again to stop all trades not involving himself.
  • Other teams that were part of Vetoed Trades were Byrd (3), Josh (2), and Toepel (1).

I’ll do a post about the 2011-2012 stuff soon, if you guys are interested.
