Let’s Preview the Playoffs…

Starting this week, we will begin the march to etching the 20th Championship name onto the trophy, and making the NFL a lot less interesting for six of the twelve teams.

CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET

Our top six teams, playing for that hardware and all the glory that comes along with it.

BYES: Sc4_Skippers, SECOND DECK

BE A MAN HOGAN (4) vs. Redbank Mallrats (5)

Playoff History: John leads all-time Playoff Series 1-0 (2017)
Last Matchup: 2017 Championship

In a bit of a scheduling oddity, since competing in the Championship game back in 2017, the Mallrats and BE A MAN HOGAN have not had an opportunity for a rematch of any sorts – until now. Skipping the entire 2018 and 2019 regular seasons, Kronner will finally be given a chance to avenge his blowout title loss.

John won the only meeting between the teams in his 2016 rookie season, and the 2017 regular season saw their two matchups split evenly, with Kronner taking the second meeting and spoiling John’s shot at what would have been the only perfect season in league history.

This week will see John as the favorite in the 4-5 matchup, currently holding a projected total edge of 89 points. The winner here will advance to face a well-rested (and reeling) Skippers team that went 1-3 over the final month of the season.

Flying Dutchmen (3) vs. QAnon (6)

Playoff History: Trigger leads all-time Playoff Series 1-0 (2004)
Last Matchup: 2017 – Week 9: Kaiser wins 1707 – 1629

A rematch 15 years in the making, this will be only the second time these teams have meet in the postseason, and the first since 2004. Also, perhaps scheduling isn’t as odd as previously thought. Much like the 4-5 match, Trigger and Kaiser have also not faced each other since 2017, when they split a two-game regular-season series.

That 2004 matchup saw a #1 seed Flying Dutchmen team narrowly escape a major opening-round upset at the hands of Mr. Snuggles, winning the game by a mere 55 points.

The winner of this matchup will advance to take on #2 seed SECOND DECK, a team that split its matchups with the Dutchmen this season, and lost their only contest against QAnon.

This year’s CONSOLATION BRACKET starts with games between Tim and Dave, as well as Jason and Steve. Playing for pride and final standings position, the BYES belong to C Tan vs. The World and The Tim Brady’s.

This is the first time The Quasars and Murphy have ever met in the postseason – Consolation or otherwise. For TIM! and Nacho Team however, this is familiar ground.

2019 will mark the third consecutive year that these two teams squared off in the Consolation Bracket, and the fifth time overall. Through the first four meetings, McLeod has asserted Consolation Dominance, winning 2009, 2017, and 2018.

Dave’s only victory came back in 2012.
